Child and Teen Counseling
Our Child and Teen Counseling services help children process and heal from exposure to traumatic situations and/or distressing events. Such events may include, but are not limited to, emotional abuse or neglect, exposure to violence in the home or school, bullying, separation from a parent or caregiver, car accidents, and sexual abuse.
Note for parents/caregivers seeking services as a result of child sexual abuse: When your child takes the brave step of disclosing sexual abuse, it can be emotional, terrifying, confusing, and a difficult process to navigate for both caregiver and child. Your child may experience an array of emotions including confusion, fear, shame, emotional sensitivity, anger/irritability or guilt. When your child is ready, we can provide a safe space to help your child process and heal from the trauma.

What to Expect
During the treatment process, we incorporate a combination of the following treatment modalities:
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Expressive Arts
- EMDR – Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing.
- Play Therapy
- Sand Play
While the primary mode of therapy will be individual, it may be appropriate to complete family sessions, as well. Please be aware that if it is deemed appropriate to include caregiver(s) in treatment, we ensure it is done in a way that balances the privacy and confidentiality of the child.
