Veronica received her bachelor’s degree in Criminology Law and Society at the University of California, Irvine. In her senior year, Veronica had her first introduction to the social work field, through an internship with New Directions, a substance abuse recovery center for women with children. Veronica then pursued her Masters of Social Work (MSW) and graduated from California State University, Stanislaus.
After earning her MSW, Veronica worked throughout the County systems, beginning in the Child Welfare sector. Veronica's experience in the Child Welfare setting prompted her to move into the realm of mental health, where she felt she would have more of an impact in helping children heal from trauma and working with adults to better understand and manage the effects of high stress and vicarious trauma.
In 2014, Veronica worked as a mental health clinician for San Joaquin County, where she provided individual counseling, case management, and crisis intervention to children, teens, and adults. Throughout her time at San Joaquin County, Veronica was able to increase her knowledge and experience in several types of therapy, including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT and Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT).
Veronica has recently begun to incorporate holistic approaches with traditional therapy; mainly, Trauma-Informed Yoga. In order to best serve her clients, Veronica completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training through Elevate Community Yoga, a local Modesto studio. She has also completed two separate, comprehensive trainings on Trauma-Informed Yoga.
Raised in the Central Valley, Veronica is committed to supporting and educating her community in the areas of mental health and wellness. Veronica acknowledges the varying emotional needs of each individual and is sensitive to their respective journeys toward healing. Her experience as both a Clinical Social Worker and Registered Yoga Teacher specializing in Trauma-Informed Yoga, foster a hopeful, unique, and safe environment for all ages.
